Things to Know About Choosing Your KB Sound In Ceiling Audio Kit
Almost invisible in ceiling audio – and it won’t break the bank!
THE ROOM
BATHROOM
KITCHEN
BEDROOM
THE PROBLEM
Your house is fully decorated and you can’t run wires without messing up your décor.
THE SOLUTION
Pop the speakers in the ceiling and a small Bluetooth amplifier in the ceiling void alongside the speakers -Almost invisible!
Link your phone or tablet to the Bluetooth and stream your favourite music/radio/sounds/podcast. If its on your device then you can fill the room using the in-ceiling Bluetooth.
THE FITTING
If you’re a DIY enthusiast, then it’s a simple Saturday morning job.
If your less handy up the steps with a screw driver, then use your local electrician and he will make short shrift of the job.
Cut speaker holes in the ceiling—they look best if you align with the downlights.
In the loft identify a permanent live. This might be from the lighting circuit or a fused spur.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ARE COMPETENT, AND BEFORE YOU START TURN OFF THE POWER!
What if I don’t have a loft?
Then consider removing one of your lights and use the power from this, replacing the light with one of the speakers. If it’s a permanent live then use this. If it’s a switched live then the Bluetooth will turn on with the lights.
Lay the power supply and Bluetooth amplifier in the ceiling void alongside a speaker and connect the power.
Wire the pair of stereo speakers, or single stereo speaker to the output of the amplifier, then clip the speakers into their holes.
Turn on the power and your ready to link your device.
THE SPEAKERS
BATHROOM
2.5” cone speakers are ideal. (3.5” o/d) so they match a standard downlight and are white. They provide ample sound for a bathroom and are best fitted close to, but not over the shower.
If you want to rock the Bathroom then consider 1 x Single Stereo 6.5” speaker. It has more bass and more “Umph”!
KITCHEN & BEDROOM
Again 2.5” speakers are fine for light background sound in a small room, but if the room is larger and you want to pump up the volume, then use a stereo pair of 5” speakers. Fit them no more than 3m apart and ideally laterally across the room.
Alternatively, if ceiling space is at a premium the use the single stereo 6.5” speaker.
